The pool, at Hill Top, has been closed since Thursday, January 15 as the damage meant the pool could not be heated.

Coun Les Shaw, cabinet member for culture, leisure and sport, said the damaged part had now been repaired and the pool was expected to reopen on Tuesday, January 27.

He added: “The main pool is now starting to warm up but will take a few days to reach a comfortable temperature. We are still investigating the cause of the leak in the small pool so it will have to stay closed until this work is finished.

“It is expected that the main pool will be ready to reopen on Tuesday January 27. I would like to extend my thanks to all our customers for their patience and understanding during the temporary closures.”

The sports hall, gym and library all reopened today (Friday) at 1pm.
