The pool, at Hill Top, closed on Thursday, January 15 after the damage meant the pool could not be heated.

The facility’s main pool reopened yesterday (Wednesday) but engineers are still investigating a separate leak in the children’s pool.

Karen Collins, Wakefield Council’s service director for culture and sport, said: “The main pool has now reopened at Knottingley Leisure Centre but the small pool currently remains closed as we investigate this further.

“The children’s pool has been emptied and we are working as quickly as possible with contractors to find out where the leak is coming from. Once the results come back we will then need to seal the area before refilling the pool and testing the water. As soon as this work is completed we will then be able to reopen the small pool.”
