Literary festival was all about Castleford

A festival of reading and writing celebrated all things Castleford. Arts charity Beam organised the town's Lit Fest in a day, which took place on Saturday at Queen's Mill.

Entitled ‘Castleford Born and Bread’, the event featured poems and readings with Coronation Street actor Colson Smith, who also judged a children’s story competition.

Other highlights included creative workshops, live theatre, music, tours of the mill, an alien-story writing workshop for youngsters and an evening with political satirist Mark Thomas.
