Louise Distras to headline With Banners Held High festival in Wakefield

She will perform at the With Banners Held High festival at Unity Works in Wakefield in a change to the line-up after indie band The Farm had to pull out.

The gig on Saturday, March 5, will the finale of a day-long festival of exhibitions, music, debates and films at the venue on Westgate.

Performance poet and songwriter Attila the Stockbroker will compere the evening show from 7pm.

Also performing will be musician and activist Joe Solo, whose latest album Never be Defeated tells the story of people in Stainforth and Dunscroft in South Yorkshire during the strike.

Barnsley Band The Hurriers, who have played the Glastonbury festival and have released their debut album From Acorns Might Oaks, are also part of the line-up.

Wakefield-born Louise Distras, whose sound has been described as “the re-birth of British punk”, will headline the event.

Proceeds will be donated to Orgreave Truth and Justice Campaign, Justice for Mineworkers and the Oaks Memorial Fund.

Unity Works said The Farm were originally booked but had to withdraw due to unforeseen circumstances.
