Motorists face delays as work to upgrade the M1 near Wakefield to a ‘smart motorway’ continues.

The £120m Highways England project aims to reduce congestion and increase capacity between junction 39 at Durkar and junction 42 at Lofthouse.

As part of the scheme the motorway will be closed in both directions between junction 39 at Durkar and junction 40 at Ossett on Monday, September 21.
