Magna Carta group takes trip to capital

Pontefract Magna Carta Group members had lunch with the Lord Mayor of London as part of preparations for the 800th anniversary of the signing of the charter..

The group met Lord Mayor Alan Yarrow and delegations from the 24 other Magna Carta towns last Tuesday.

The Magna Carta was the first document imposed on a King of England by a group of barons in an attempt to limit his powers and protect their laws.
