A man has admitted killing his partner and their young daughter.
John Miller, 38, denied murder at Leeds Crown Court today but pleaded guilty to the manslaughter of Sarah Laycock, 31, and eight-year-old Abigail Miller on the grounds of diminished responsibility.
The defendant, of Kirkby Avenue, Garforth, cried in the dock as prosecutors described him as having suffered a ‘psychotic illness’ at the time of the brutal killings last January.
As previously reported, Miss Laycock, a deputy headteacher at Wheldon Infant School in Castleford, suffered axe and stab wounds in the attack.
