Man killed in horror smash named by police

A man who was killed after the car he was travelling in crashed into a tree has been named by police.

Dwaine Csonka, 25, from Wakefield, died at the scene following the crash on Flanshaw Way, at about 9.50pm on May 24.

The 24-year-old driver of the black Skoda Fabia VRS was taken to Leeds General Infirmary with serious injuries but he has since been discharged.

And police are continuing to appeal for witnesses to the incident.

The car was headed towards Flanshaw Lane when it crashed into the tree.

Floral tributes to Mr Csonka have been left at the scene.

Sergeant Carl Quinn, of West Yorkshire Police’s Major Collision Enquiry Team, said: “We are continuing to investigate and appeal for witnesses to this collision and in particular, would like to speak to anyone who saw the movements of the Skoda Fabia before the collision took place.

“Anyone with information is asked to call the Major Collision Enquiry Team via 101.”
