Man remanded over family double murder

A man accused of murdering his partner and young daughter in January 2012 has been remanded in custody.

John Miller, 38, is also accused of six counts of assault and appeared before Leeds Magistrates’ Court this morning.

The bodies of Sarah Laycock, who was a deputy headteacher at Wheldon Infant School in Castleford, and his eight-year-old daughter Abigail were found at their home in Garforth.

Miller will next appear at Leeds Crown Court on Thursday.
