Members leave One Direction tribute after Zayn’s shock exit

Two members of a One Direction tribute have left the act less than a week after Zayn Malik’s shock exit from the chart topping band.

South Elmsall-born Luke Primmer and Ashley Bagley, have left, The Best 1D Ever, just weeks before the group start their Spanish tour.

But Darren Powell, Jason Goodman and James Sharples, of Wakefield, will still tour Spain with new member Simon Webster.

Mr Powell, 29, said: “We are gutted that Luke and Ash have left the band.

“They want to pursue their own thing and we have to respect that.

“But we’re really sad to see them go and we wish them both the best of luck.

“With Zayn leaving One Direction we decided we only needed one more person. So Simon is our new member, he’s a great singer and we will go on tour in Spain as a four piece.”

The boys will fly out to Spain in April for six months and they are planning to release a single in October to raise money for Wakefield Hospice.
