Memorable day for Pontefract pupils

The sacrifice made by local men during the First World War was brought home to pupils from St Joseph’s School, when they visited Pontefract Cemetery, and took part in a remembrance service. Pupils made rubbings of Commonwealth War Grave Commission headstones, and used the CWGC database to search for men listed on the war memorial. They discovered some died and are commemorated in South Africa, Pakistan and Turkey.
