In response to feedback and the growing customer demand, the centre’s opening hours have now been extended and extra classes will be on offer.

“We actively encourage and welcome customer feedback at all the Council leisure centres across the district and always use this to help shape the offer we provide.

“At Minsthorpe we started out with an initial timetable, and asked people what they thought. The information which people have shared has helped us to make these new adjustments to the opening hours and classes.”

Minsthorpe Leisure will now open an hour earlier on Tuesday and Thursday mornings, at 7am, starting. Spaces at Aqua Fit classes have been increased from 30 to 40 spaces and an extra class has been added on Monday evenings from 5.45pm to 6.30pm.

The facility provides a 25 metre, six-lane swimming pool, studio space and a 60 station air-conditioned gym.

The swimming area offers activities for people of all ages and abilities, including those who want to learn to swim, as well as those who want to use water space to keep fit and active.

The versatile studio space caters for a full range of activities from toddler soft play to body pump and Zumba.

The site also offers car parking, cycle storage and a school bus pull in.

Bookings are also now being taken for swimming lessons.

Wakefield Council is also committed to delivering a £15 million leisure and well-being centre in Pontefract Park and planning permission is expected to be submitted shortly.
