Minute's silence following London terror attack

A minute's silence will be held tomorrow in solidarity with people affected by Saturday's terrorist attack in London.

Flags are flying at half-mast at Wakefield Council’s public buildings and the town hall will be lit in red, white and blue colours tonight.

A one-minute silence will be held at 11am tomorrow.

Council leader Peter Box said: “We are deeply shocked and saddened by the horrific events in London at the weekend.

“Our thoughts and sympathies are with all those that have been affected, especially to those that have been injured and those families that have lost their loved ones.

“Our community shares in the shock and outrage at the events in London.

“This horrific criminal act must not be allowed to intimidate us in our daily lives.

“This is a time for us to pull together to overcome those who wish to change our lives through fear. We must not let them win.”
