Mumford & Sons, Deadmau5 and Bastille among headline acts announced for Leeds Fest

The band will be joined by Canadian House band Deadmau5 and Brit Award-winning band Bastille as the festival’s main stage headliners.

Acts who were also confirmed last night for the event, and its sister festival in Reading, include Royal Blood, Rebel Sound, Catfish and the Bottlemen, Years & Years and Wolf Alice.

US rock legends Metallica were announced as headliner by event organiser Festival Republic last year.

Festival boss Melvin Benn said: “I’m delighted to have secured Mumford & Sons for main stage headliners this summer and can’t wait to see them return to the festivals for their first UK performance in over two years.

“With the announcement of a further eight great acts joining the bill, the Reading and Leeds lineup is already shaping up to be one of the best ever and I’m looking forward to revealing the third headliner and even more great artists soon.”

Mumford & Sons performed on the NME/BBC Radio 1 stage at Leeds Festival in 2010.

Other acts previously confirmed for this year’s festival include Jamie T, Pierce The Veil, Run The Jewels, Refused and Manchester Orchestra.

Festival Republic, formerly called Mean Fiddler, began organising outdoor festivals in Leeds in 1999.

The festival used to be held at Temple Newsam before the venue was switched in 2003 to its current home in Bramham Park, near Wetherby.

Bands who have performed at the festival before include Arctic Monkeys, Guns N’ Roses and Oasis.

The festival will be held during the August Bank Holiday weekend.

Tickets for the event are on sale now with weekend tickets priced at £205 plus £8 booking fee and postage.

People can book their place with a £50 deposit and pay the rest in monthly instalments.

Children aged 12 and under are admitted free but must be accompanied by a ticket-holding adult.
