New library for town’s college

Youngsters at Pontefract’s NEW College will soon have access to a whole host of new resources when a new library opens on the site next month.

The new Learning Resource Centre provides three floors of services to including computers, textbooks, journals, careers advice, study support, pastoral care and multimedia resources.

Jeff Finnigan, LRC manager, said: “This new building brings exciting opportunities. Students can now access a superb facility, with a range of resources and services, outside of lessons, to support their own learning and development.”

The learning centre is part of a revamp across the campus which includes the performing arts academy and plans for a new visual arts academy.

Pauline Hagen, principal, said: “I am delighted and proud of our ability to match outstanding provision with outstanding buildings to give our students what they genuinely deserve.”

The new Learning Resource Centre will officially open on October 18.
