Town and district councillor Dick Taylor has been elected as Featherstone’s new mayor.
Coun Taylor was presented with the chains of office during a special ceremony last week with his wife, Margaret.
Coun Taylor, who has been on the town council for five years and Wakefield Council for three, has taken on the role from fellow councillor Margaret Isherwood.
He said: “I would like to carry on the good work my predecessor has done and as a member of the regeneration committee in Featherstone, I would like to see as many grot spots cleaned up as possible.”
The mayor’s chosen charity this year is Pontefract’s Prince of Wales Hospice.
Coun Taylor added: “I’m looking forward to raising as much money as I can to help the hospice.”
