Children at Oakfield Park School are on top of the world after a new specialist swing was installed.
Staff at the Ackworth school - which caters for students aged from 11 to 19 who have severe, profound or multiple learning difficulties - applied for a grant through the Tesco Bags of Help scheme.
Shoppers were asked to vote for their favourite good cause, with each group getting a grant based on their voting rating.
Oakfield Park was awarded top prize of £5,000 from the initiative, which is funded through the 5p carrier bag charge.
The money went towards installing a wheelchair swing, along with £1,000 from the Harrison Trust, and money from the Friends of Oakfield Park.
The swing in the playground enables children in wheelchairs to enjoy their playtime a bit more.
Linda Lockett, school business manager, said: “We would like to thank everyone who supported us with the Tesco Bags of Help Scheme, where we won the first prize of £5,000 and Harrison Trust which very kindly gave us £1,000.
“We’d also like to say thanks to everyone who supports Oakfield Park with generous donations and finally for all the support Friends of Oakfield Park receives with its many fundraising activities. All of this generosity supported the purchase and installation of the wheelchair swing.”
