Olivia Lambert, 19, from Outwood, stars in a new animated video that tells her personal story and how she chose a career as an apprentice there.

Olivia, who is an apprentice customer consultant at the Wakefield branch on Kirkgate, was an RAF trainee before taking up an apprenticeship with the society in 2017.

She said: “It’s been great fun watching my own journey to becoming an apprentice be turned into such a wonderful animated video. I was really happy to be chosen to highlight the society’s apprenticeship programme.”

“After finishing my A-Levels at Outwood Grange Academy I did six weeks training with the RAF before I decided it wasn’t really for me. I knew that I didn’t want to go to university as I didn’t like the idea of getting into the levels of debt that would entail. I then came across the Yorkshire Building Society apprenticeship scheme.

“The apprenticeship scheme at the society has really helped me to gain a better understanding of the working world and I will soon be fully qualified and in a full-time role once my apprenticeship is complete early next year.”

All apprentices at Yorkshire Building Society are paid above the Living Wage and are recruited on a permanent contract. The society has offered apprenticeships in a number of key business areas for the last three years. Last year its programme won the Newcomer Large Employer of the Year Awards at the National Apprenticeship Awards. See the video at www.youtube.com/watch?v=nej1b_ZeCAs&feature=youtu.be.
