Overnight slip road closure on M1 motorway

Motorists face delays as work to upgrade the M1 motorway near Wakefield continue.

A £120m project to change the stretch between junction 39 at Durkar and junction 42 at Lofthouse, into a managed motorway is underway with the aim of easing congestion.

Hard shoulders will become permanent lanes in both directions and temporary speed limits will be in force during peak times.

As part of the works, the southbound exit slip road at junction 40 at Flushdyke will be closed for seven nights from Monday, March 17, between 8pm and 6am.

The scheme is due to be completed by September 2015.
