Paramedics called and investigation launched after person found on the tracks at Wakefield train station
British Transport Police were called to reports of a person on the tracks between Leeds and Normanton shortly after 5am today (Monday, February 1).
Paramedics were also called to the scene, but were unable to save the person, who has not been identified.

Hide AdDelays and disruption were reported through Wakefield Kirkgate, Leeds, Normanton and Castleford while emergency services attended the scene.
A spokesperson for British Transport Police said: "Officers were called to the line in Wakefield shortly after 5am this morning following reports of a casualty on the tracks.
"Paramedics also attended however sadly a person was pronounced dead at the scene.
"Officers are currently working to identify them and establish the full circumstances behind their death."
