Partnership to boost business opportunities

Wakefield Council and the Mid Yorkshire Chamber of Commerce have teamed up to boost economic and business growth opportunities across the district.

The two organisations have signed a Memorandum of Understanding, which marks a commitment to work together and build on partnership opportunities, with the aim of using the Chamber’s expertise to aid business support and development.

The first task of the partnership will see the council and the chamber share resources to deliver Wakefield’s annual business week in June.

The chamber will also take on the leadership of the Wakefield Business Group, which reports into the Wakefield Enterprise Partnership. The two organisations will also develop a shared support offer for local businesses and co-ordinate business groups within the district.

Coun Peter Box, council leader, said: “The signing of the Memorandum of Understanding marks the start of a promising partnership between the council and Mid Yorkshire Chamber which promises great things for Wakefield. It outlines our joint ambition to work in collaboration and partnership to continue to boost economic and business growth in our district.”
