Approval sought for £3 million social club conversion
The hub would occupy the site of the former Kellingley Miners’ Welfare Club and provide a café, meeting space for community groups, a sports area and business and digital area.
Members of Wakefield Council’s cabinet will be asked to approve the funding and £50,000 of annual funding to support running costs and upkeep of the building, when they meet on March 24.

Hide AdCoun Michael Graham, cabinet member for resources at Wakefield Council, said: “We have listened to people’s views and I believe a hub would be a great asset, enabling people to take part in activities including sport and health-boosting initiatives as well as access to advice and support to help build work skills.”
The cabinet is due to meet on March 24 at 10.30am at Wakefield Town Hall.
