Burst water main leaves 1,500 village homes without water and closes two schools

A burst water main left 1,500 homes without water.

Yorkshire Water said it is dealing with the incident on Durkar Lane, Crigglestone.

Both carriageways of Durkar Lane are closed between High Street and Denby Dale Road East because of flooding.

And repairs to the roads are underway.

Crigglestone Nursery School and St James CE Primary Academy have been closed.

A spokesman for Yorkshire Water said only two homes were now waiting for their supply to be turned back on.

He said: "We have a burst which is causing low pressure or no water in the area.

"Our technicians are on site and trying to get the water back on as soon as possible. Sorry for the inconvenience."

Yorkshire Water said the incident was reported just before 3am on Friday( today).
