The Selby-based company, who have partnerships with the likes of the NHS and Wakefield Metropolitan District Council, are offering the courses to adults to assist learning, skills access and training opportunities.

Any adult over 19 years old, across the Five Towns community, can view and sign up for the courses.

As part of the partnership, people will have free access to nearly 50 nationally recognised Level 1 and 2 courses across a range of sectors and industries, including studying Mental Health Awareness and a certificate in Caring for the Elderly.

Excited to take on this new offer is veteran Tiger James Clare:

He said: “I just think it’s outstanding, for me personally and everybody in the Cas community, to add a little skill to your repertoire.

“To get opportunities like that, especially for free and during such a difficult time in the midst of a global pandemic, it’s just great to see.

“I know myself personally and a couple of the other players will definitely be jumping on board the courses just to help us develop our own careers after rugby.

“Hopefully we can see some of the wider community on these very courses and we can all get a little bit better together!”

The Tigers say all courses are fully funded meaning there will be no cost to enrol or take up the course.

And learners enrolled on the course will be able to study from home at their own pace.

After working with The Skills Network last year, Tigers’ Managing Director Mark Grattan was happy to see more education opportunities opened up.

“As a club we are delighted that our Foundation can now offer these free courses to Castleford Tigers’ fans, players, staff and sponsors, and also to their family and friends," he said.

“On the back of the Foundation’s relationship with The Skills Network, we managed to offer a small number of courses to the club’s staff last year as a precursor.

“The people who took the courses gave some really positive feedback on how professional the systems and learning processes are and completed the courses without any issues.

“The multitude of courses now offered are varied and will be great for people who want to learn a new skill, upskill themselves in a current job or take the first steps towards a new career.”
