A total of 11 people have opposed the idea, submitted by a homeowner living on Manor Drive in Ossett.

They've cited concerns around excessive noise, waste and parking on the street.

But Vicky Ellis, who's put forward the application, says there wouldn't be significantly more waste than a domestic home with multiple cats and that clients would happily accept parking restrictions.

Officers from Wakefield Council have recommended the plans be approved, subject to a series of conditions, including that the number of cats at the property be limited to 12 at any one time.

A panel of councillors will have the final say at a meeting next Thursday.

In their report going before the meeting, officers concluded: "Neighbouring properties would not be adversely affected to a harmful degree and the cattery business could operate without raising concerns in relation to amenity, design, pollution, highway safety and drainage."

Among the conditions also likely to be imposed, if the idea is approved, would be a parking restriction limiting customer drop-offs between 9.30am and 6pm on weekdays and 10am until midday on weekends.

The cattery would also be forbidden from running until a waste management plan has been agreed with the council.
