Lottery bosses to discuss grants as stats show district is among the worst off for funding

Lottery bosses will be heading to Allerton Bywater tonight to discuss community funding after figures revealed the area is among the lowest when it comes to receiving grants.

League tables showed the Elmet and Rothwell constituency ranked 640th from 650 wards when it came to cash handouts from the National Lottery.

Ward councillors for Kippax and Methley James Lewis, Mary Harland and Mirelle Midgley have now arranged for the National Lottery Community Fund and the National Lottery Heritage Fund to speak with residents about what money is available and how to apply.

Anyone interested is encouraged to go along to the Old School on Vicars Terrace in Allerton Bywater, tonight Thursday, February 20, between 5pm and 6.30pm.

Coun James Lewis said: “I was really disappointed when I saw just how little money we receive.

“It would fantastic if we could see more spent locally.”
