It was fun, games chocolate galore for Millfields Care home residents as they enjoyed a Charlie and the Chocolate Factory themed week

Staff at Millfields Care Home had a special treat in-store for residents - a themed week of activities, inspired by Roald Dahl’s best selling children’s book, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory.

Victoria Jenkins, the care home’s activities and fundraising coordinator, executed a full chocolate themed week including chocolate tasting, a chocolate fountain, a staff vs residents chocolate themed quiz, and chocolate prize bingo.

Residents also enjoyed an afternoon watching the original Charlie and Chocolate Factory film, while staff got dressed up as their favourite characters.

Residents indulged in sweet treats

Victoria said: “I have really enjoyed this theme, it has been a brilliant week and it has really lifted the spirits of all the residents and staff.

“The residents have enjoyed planning it with me and loved seeing all the staff dressed up, a bit of chocolate makes everyone smile.

"We ended the week with the theme day with a delicious buffet with lots of chocolate treats prepared by our kitchen team.

"We received lots of generous donations of chocolate from the local community which we are grateful for.

Laura Jones, Manager, said: “This theme has been better than we could have imagined, Victoria has gone above and beyond organising this and the staff have put a lot of effort in to make the day special, I am very proud of my team at Millfields.

“We are overwhelmed by the generosity of the local community who have supported us throughout the pandemic.”

The cake was donated by a member of staff, Elizabeth Tankard who has supported the home with many fundraising events and raffles.

It was raffled on the day and raised £212 which is going towards funds to purchase an interactive rainbow table for the residents.
