Proposals have been submitted to the council to build 12 homes on a strip of land east of Martin Frobisher Drive and Holyrood Crescent.

The application, submitted by Asset Capital, suggests the site would be made up of nine two-bedroom houses and three three-bedroom homes.

If approved, the homes would be accessed from Martin Frobisher Drive. But there have been nine letters of objection sent to the planning department.

The concerns include building on greenbelt land, the volume of increased traffic.

One resident said: “Altofts is known for its strong mining village and cannot absorb any further developments, the roads cannot take the increased traffic already so adding more will just crucify our village.”

People still have time to have their say on the plans.
