Pinderfields and Pontefract hospitals NHS trust appoints new director

A new director has been appointed to the NHS board that runs Pinderfields and Pontefract hospitals.

NHS Improvement has confirmed the appointment of Dr David Throssell as a Non-Executive Director of the Mid Yorkshire Hospitals NHS Trust.

David’s appointment will run for two years with effect from April 1 this year.

He has more than 20 years’ experience as consultant renal physician, medical manager and leader, during which he has amassed more than 18 years’ combined experience as a Clinical Director, Deputy Medical Director and Medical Director at Sheffield Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.

His particular areas of interest are clinical leadership, informatics, clinical quality, and the management of health services across evolving structures such as Sustainability and Transformation Partnerships and Integrated Care Systems.

David said: “I am delighted to be joining the Trust at what is clearly a pivotal time in its evolution, and hope that I can make a positive contribution to ongoing efforts to realise the full potential of the organisation and its staff.”

Keith Ramsay, Chairman of The Mid Yorkshire Hospitals NHS Trust Board, said: “David’s appointment is a real achievement for our Trust; he brings with him an impressive track record of expertise and leadership skills to support the organisation and his input will result in huge benefits to healthcare in our region.”

Lenore Ogilvy and Simon Stone have also been re-appointed as Non-Executive Directors to continue to serve on the Board of The Mid Yorkshire Hospitals NHS Trust.
