Police called to reports of remains found near river in Wakefield

Officers were called to the area, off Doncaster Road, on Monday.

A spokesman said: "Police have completed enquiries following a report of remains close to the river, off of Doncaster Road.

"An extensive search of the waterway led to an item being recovered, which was found to be general debris wrapped in fishing wire.

"We believe the report was made to the police in good faith and would like to thank the public for their assistance in this matter. "
