Jacky said, "I did this because we should grab every opportunity and do things that make us think and take us out of our comfort zone.

“Not only that, I want to raise some serious money for a fantastic cause.

“I have lost many family members and friends throughout my life due to cancer, including my dad and grandparents, and I currently have family members and special friends with cancer and undergoing chemotherapy."

Initially Jacky set out to raise £500 but her fundraising soon gathered pace with her current total of £2,068 plus £388 in Gift Aid.

Jacky said: "I'm aware that Coronavirus has meant many fundraising events have been cancelled or postponed and many cancer services, including those provided by Macmillan, have been affected.

“This is my way of supporting and giving a little back to both them and the amazing people that support them through their difficult journeys."

Stacey Rhodes, Senior Relationship Fundraising Manager in Yorkshire, said: “There has never been a tougher time for people to go through treatment for cancer and we are so grateful to our wonderful supporters like Jacky for raising awareness and a fabulous amount of money.

“We want the people of Pontefract and Yorkshire to know we are still here to help people living with cancer.”
