The #RunForWakefieldHospice campaign asks supporters to complete a run of any length, in exchange for a £5 donation to the hospice.

The hospice, a registered charity, has lost around £80,000 in funding each month since the start of lockdown, and has been forced to postpone its annual 10k run, which usually brings in tens of thousands of pounds.

Director of Income Generation, Helen Knowles, said: “It has been a disappointing year for runners everywhere and we know so many supporters have continued to train, in the hope that their chosen run will take place.

"We really hope the Wakefield community will engage with #RunForWakefieldHospice which will enable participates to feel united, despite not being allowed to run together as they would have done under normal circumstances.”

In exchange for a £5 donation to the hospice, runners will receive a certificate and inclusion on the virtual finishers' board.
