At present it is unknown how long the closure will last.

All performances until March 28 have been cancelled with immediate effect.

This timeframe may be subject to change depending on the advice received from the Government.

Theatre Royal Wakefield said they will endeavour to reschedule the effected events, but this may not be possible.

Customers who have booked tickets to any affected shows are entitled to a full refund and will be contacted in due course. Theatre Royal Wakefield is a small theatre that relies heavily on local support and so are asking customers to consider the possibility of donating the cost of their ticket to help keep the theatre afloat in these most unusual circumstances.

Katie Town, Executive Director, said: "Theatre Royal Wakefield takes the health of our visitors, staff, artists and volunteers very seriously.
