Paying tribute, her colleagues described her as "the foundation of her Neighbourhood Policing Team".

Chief Superintendent Mark McManus, District Commander of Wakefield Police, said: “Tracey was an extremely well known and popular figure in Ossett and rightly described as ‘the foundation of her NPT.’

“As a PCSO she was heavily involved in all manner of community projects and instrumental in running the very popular Brickhouse Youth Club. The club has served scores of young children in the town and helped them go on to become involved in community work and volunteering.

“Always passionate about doing the best for her area, Tracey was the very definition of the sort of commitment and dedication to a community which remains as the bedrock of neighbourhood policing.

"She truly made a difference in people’s lives, and her passing will leave a huge hole in both her team and the communities she dedicated herself to serving."

Hundreds of people have paid tribute to Tracey online, with many sharing their memories of her "selfless and amazing" work for the town.

Former colleague Vee Jay Tee said: "Absolutely devastating. I used to dread going on foot patrol with Tracey because you couldn't walk more than 10 metres before somebody from the community who knew her would stop to talk!

"A truly selfless and amazing woman who left a mark of light on everyone she came in to contact with. Rest in peace, beautiful lady."
