Wakefield GCSE results 2022: Live updates, grade boundaries, results and more

Castleford Academy Y11 pupils of 2021-2022 have achieved fantastic results in this first year in which we return to national terminal examinations following the disruption in education caused by the Covid Pandemic, the school has said.

“We are extremely proud of the hard work, resilience and dedication displayed by both pupils and staff who have achieved results that are in line with last year’s teacher assessed grades and above the last national terminal exam results in 2019. This truly is a brilliant example of the academy working together to achieve excellence for all.”

In English, 81% of pupils achieved grade 4 (equivalent to a GCSE grade C), 69% grade 5 (the new strong pass standard) and 30% grade 7 (equivalent to a GCSE grade A and above).

In Maths, 81% of pupils achieved grade 4, 66% grade 5 and 37% grade 7. Our excellent improvements in our core subjects of English and Maths have led to 75% pupils achieving a grade 4 in both English and Maths with 57% achieving a grade 5 in both respectively.

Headteacher Wesley Bush said,: “We are extremely proud of all our pupils’ achievements. The progress our pupils make in all subjects across the academy has been exceptional. It has been wonderful to see so many happy faces from both pupils and staff who have worked tirelessly over the past couple of years in extremely difficult circumstances.”

The chair of Governors John McNichol said: “It is wonderful to see Castleford Academy pupils continue to achieve fantastic outcomes both at sixth form and Y11. We wish them all the best in the future and want to thank parents / carers for their support during these challenging times. It has been another successful year for the academy, congratulations.”

Outwood Academy Hemsworth is delighted that it has improved upon its last set of official exam results, which were sat in 2019.

The percentage of students passing their English and Maths at grade 4 or higher has increased by 9%. The vast majority of subjects have also improved their results since 2019.

Overall, there were highlights for the academy in a huge variety of subjects from across the curriculum, including Photography, English Language and Music.

Of particular note were English Language with 35 students achieving a grade 7 or higher, and French and Spanish who have a combined pass rate of 90%. These results are in addition to some wonderful grades awarded to students in a variety of other subjects.

Emily Guest, who achieved four grades 9s and three grade 8s, said: “I can’t believe it. I’m so proud of myself.”

Billy Lawton achieved a range of grade 6s and 7s, said: “I’m really proud of what I’ve achieved and I'm looking forward to coming back to Hemsworth post-16 in September.”

Hayden Hopkins, who achieved a grade 9 in Maths amongst other fantastic grades, said: “I’m really pleased and I’m looking forward to studying for my A-Levels at Hemsworth.”

After an unprecedented couple of years where students have shown incredible resilience and commitment in dealing with the pandemic alongside their studies, there were scenes of joy at the Potovens Lane-based academy as students collected their results.

Overall, there were highlights for the academy in a huge variety of subjects across the curriculum from Languages, Sciences, Arts and Technology. Of particular note were Music and Computing where an incredible 54% and 43% of students achieved grade 7 or higher, respectively. In addition, there were 27 grade 9s in English alone.

There were lots of standout students achieving amazing results, among them was Syed Shah, who achieved all grade 9s and one grade 8; highly impressive.

The King’s School and Carleton High School, both members of Pontefract Academies Trust, are celebrating GCSE success today.

Eight students from Carleton High School achieved an incredible set of results comprising of all 8’s and 9’s. 78% of students from The King’s School and 70% of students from Carleton High School received grades 9-4, including passes in GCSE Maths and English. A huge 96% of students received a grade 7 or above in Separate Sciences. Some incredible results to celebrate.

Students at Trinity Academy Cathedral have received their GCSE exam results and the school has once again had the opportunity to enjoy a set of fantastic results.

The school said the impressive results are not just the culmination of students’ hard work over the past year, but across their entire time studying at the academy. Teachers and senior staff alike have expressed their pride in the grades obtained by the class of 2022, who can now look forward to bright futures in sixth form college, apprenticeships and beyond.

This year’s results come with a plethora of extraordinary achievements and highlights, one of which comes from Deputy Head Boy, Aaron Gardener. Aaron achieved impressive GCSE marks including two grade 9’s, four grade 8’s and three grade 7’s, which have allowed him to secure a place at Pontefract New College for September.

Another praiseworthy set of results come courtesy of Head Girl, Heidi Jo Wood, who achieved three grade 9’s, five grade 8’s and two grade 7’s.

Trinity Academy Cathedral would like to acknowledge the consistent efforts of their teaching staff throughout the year for helping to achieve these grades. However, a huge overwhelming congratulations must go to the students who have persevered, focused, and excelled in every area to achieve such fantastic results.

Although Trinity Academy Cathedral are currently celebrating the success of 2022, staff are already beginning to look optimistically towards the class of 2023, with the expectation that they can replicate these excellent results once again.

St Wilfred’s has congratulated its students on the GCSE results.

Four students achieved 8 grade 9s in their results - Elizabeth Robinson, Maisie Fletcher, Lila Carrigan and Lily Rhodes.

Five achieved 5+ grade 9s in their results: Ava Brenton, Harry Cook, Martha Everett, Jimmy Lavin and Sienna Tillotson and seven students achieved grade 7 and above in all subjects in their results: Rosie Hall, Jossy Ovbiagle-Okougbo, Joel John, Jonathan Stanton, Erim Thorpe, Jackob Rzegoki and Leah Thomas.

The school added that a significant number of pupils have achieved excellent progress and attainment within these results, including David Paul, Anna Pasek, Leulneh Zewdu, Lacy Sandam, Lily Mapanya and Eleanor Fisher.

71% of students gained grade 4 and above in both English and Maths.

51% of students gained grade 5 and above in both English and Maths.

23% of all qualifications were grade 7-9.

62% of all qualifications were grade 5-9.

81% of all qualifications were grade 4-9.

Staff and students are celebrating at Brigshaw High School with the first set of exam results in three years following the Covid pandemic.

The school is delighted and very proud that students’ hard work, efforts and resilience have been rewarded.

Deputy Head Teacher James Brookes praised students and staff for their commitment and dedication.

“We are delighted that lots of our Year 11 students plan to stay at Brigshaw to complete A Levels in what looks to be our biggest cohort yet in the Sixth Form.”

QEGS is celebrating another year of outstanding GCSE success, with almost 60% of results being thetop 9-7 grades.

The school

says the boys’ results are well deserved, coming on the back of three years of greatuncertainty and challenge for all in education, and provide a strong foundation for future study, with a number of stand out performances.

Janik Peeters, Arsh Gupta, Aditya Krishnanand Tim Spawforth achieved straight 9 grades and Chris Poulios, James McKinlay-Smith, Rahul Duttaand Samee Aksar achieving at least 9 grade 9s.

A total of 42 students got at least one ofthose coveted Grade 9s. 9 boys achieved an A* in the Higher Project Qualification - an optionalextension project which promotes individual intellectual inquiry.

“They, like all our pupils over the last three years, have shown incredible resilience inthe face of the challenges posed by COVID and I am confident that the lessons they have learnedregarding how to study and how to ensure their personal wellbeing, together with these greatresults, will serve them well in the future.

“I am looking forward to seeing the boys return to the SixthForm in September when they will be able to build on these great performances.

“I would like to thank the parents for all the support they have provided throughout their sons’ timeat the school. I would also like to thank our teachers for their inspirational teaching, together withcare and support for the boys.

“After two years without exams, our thanks go, too, to our exams officers and support staff for alltheir work to support the smooth running of the exam series, and to the exam boards andexaminers.”

Students, parents, carers and staff from Outwood Academy City Fields are celebrating their amazing achievements after receiving their GCSE results.

There were significant highlights for the academy across the board, but notably in English, Geography, Triple Science, and across all languages.

The school said all students attended all of their exams demonstrating their commitment to their future, which alone identifies what kind of young people they are - that despite adversity and despite a bus strike, they made it in everyday and got the job done. These results will see them do extremely well in the future.

There are many standout student success stories, including Faizaan Ahmed who achieved seven grade 9’s and a grade 7. Amaar Ahmed achieved five grade 9’s, two grade 8’s and a Distinction Star in Sport. Umar Malik achieved four 9’s, a Distinction*, three 8’s and a 7. Jack Lockwood achieved grades 7-9 in all studies subjects, and Charlie Craske who despite a very difficult year, came away with some amazing results including a 9 in English and an 8 in History.

There was a total of 4 grade 9’s in Maths, twice as many than in 2019.

There were many students who made outstanding progress based on their starting point, Fawaz Asim, Patryk Aniolowski, Haishu Abubaker, Muqaddas Yasin, Riham Al Salkhadi all achieved amazing results due to their hard work and determination.

The school also paid particular attention to Alfie McCraw whose parents collected his results following his tragic death in July. Alfie worked incredibly hard for these and achieved a L2 Distinction in Sport, 6 in English Language, 5 in English Literature, 5 in Maths, 5 in Art, 4/4 in Science, 4 in Statistics and a 4 in French.

These results are a testament to that daily dedication, hard work and passion shown by students and staff alike and I am proud of each and every one of them.”

Wakefield Girls’ High School is congratulating its students on their excellent achievements in their GCSEs.

It said Year 11 worked with determination through challenging times and have achieved highly across the board.

94.2% achieved at grade 5 or higher and 67% of all grades achieved were awarded grade 9 to 7. Thirty students attained 9 GCSEs at grade 7 or higher with twelve students achieving 9 or more grade 8s or higher and three of these students attaining 9 grade 9s.

Subjects where students achieved an especially high percentage of the highest grades include: Further Maths, Religious Studies, PE, Music, Geography, Computer Science, Greek, Classical Civilisation, History and French.

Head, Heidi-Jayne Boyes said: “ We’re celebrating our wonderful students today, not just the success of their examinations and academic grades but everything they have done outside of the classroom: learning remotely during COVID, taking advantage of extra-curricular opportunities to be courageous, resilient, to grow in confidence and experience new things.

“How these elements work together in their boldest way, with academic learning, is (in my opinion) what matters most and the key to success for girls, now and for the future.

“All of our students should be confident that they have the skills and knowledge to embark upon their A Level courses and we look forward to working with each to flourish at Sixth Form. ”
