Police appeal after bike stolen from Wakefield Westgate railway station

A thief stole a bike from Wakefield Westgate railway station.

British Transport Police (BTP) have released these images of a man they would like to speak to in connection with the incident.

The theft took place at around 1am on Thursday, October 9.

PC Christopher McGlynn, of the BTP, said: “The owner left his bike locked at the station. In the early hours of the morning a man approached the bike, snapped the lock and cycled away on the stolen bike.

“If you recognise the man in the images please contact us.”

PC McGlynn added: “Reducing the number of bikes stolen from stations is a major priority for BTP. We will always investigate incidents reported to us.

“There are also steps you can take to reduce your risk of becoming the victim of bike theft, including marking your bike frame and using a high-quality lock.”
