Det Insp Steve Greenbank said: “This gun is very distinctive and we are keen to trace it as soon as possible though we would like to stress that we don’t believe this theft poses any immediate risk to the public.

“The robbery occurred in broad daylight and, although the property is in a countryside location, we are hopeful that someone may have seen a car or persons acting suspiciously in the area.

“If you have any information that can help our enquiries, please call Wakefield CID on 101 or you can contact Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111.”
