Police name cyclist who died after crash on A650 at Tingley

A cyclist who died after being treated for serious head injuries following a collision with a car has been named by police.

Darren Schofield, 47, died on Friday, January 9 after a crash with a black Vauxhall Corsa on the A650 at Tingley on Monday, January 5 at about 4.10pm.

Police said Mr Schofield, from Tingley, was riding a red and white Trek Alpha racing pedal cycle along the road in the direction of Tingley roundabout

Sgt Ann Drury, of West Yorkshire Police’s Major Collision Enquiry Team, said: “This happened at a busy time of day.

“I would appeal to any witnesses who saw the pedal cycle or the vehicle before the collision, or the collision itself, who haven’t yet come forward, to contact the Major Collision Enquiry Team.”
