Capri restaurant licensing hearing off after Horbury neighbours withdraw noise objections

Two neighbours of Capri, in Horbury Bridge, had asked Wakefield Council not to extend its licensed hours, citing noise concerns.

A hearing was due to take place on Tuesday to decide the matter, but that's now been cancelled after the council said both residents retracted their objections.

It is understood the restaurant's management met with the neighbours and the local licensing department before lockdown to discuss their concerns. One of them had originally said that the volume of late-night noise from the diner often hampered normal conversation inside their home.

In their application asking for their recorded music licence to be extended to midnight, Capri insisted the noise would not be intrusive and that their windows and doors would be kept closed during business hours.

The restaurant has also asked to sell alcohol and serve food until midnight between Mondays and Saturdays and 11.30pm on Sundays. Although it is currently closed to sit-in diners because of lockdown, it would normally close at 10pm.

A decision on the application will now be made by council officers.
