POLICE are appealing for witnesses after a man suffered facial injuries in an assault in Pontefract town centre.

The victim was assaulted by three men at 8.50pm last Sunday (April 24) at the junction of Beastfair and Ropergate.

The men approached the victim who was in a vehicle driving into the town centre. He got out of the vehicle and started speaking to the men who then attacked him before walking away down Southgate.

The men are described as three white males, aged between 22 and 25 years of age and one had long wavy hair and spectacles.

A police spokesman said many people were outside pubs at the time because of the good weather and may have seen the incident.

Anyone with information should contact PC Steve Lawson at Pontefract neighbourhood policing team on 01977 601045.
