Power cuts affecting 170 homes near Wakefield

Power cuts are affecting around 170 homes in Stanley, with some not expected to have power restored until later this afternoon.

Two reported outages are being tended to around the Baker Lane area where 130 homes have been without electricity since just before 3am this morning, and close to Lake Lock Road where a further 40 lost power at around 8.15am.

Northern Powergrid are working at the scenes and say Baker Lane will be up and running again by 1pm, but residents at Lake Lock Road may have to wait until 4pm.

A spokesman said: “We’ve had to switch off the power for safety purposes whilst our engineers work on the cables and equipment that serves your area. We appreciate your patience and understanding.”
