THE physiotherapy service at Mid Yorkshire Hospitals NHS Trust has been highly praised by patients.
The patient satisfaction audit carried out by the trust showed 98 per cent of patients were satisfied or very satisfied with the service, and 82 per cent have seen a significant improvement in their condition following assessment and treatment.
Patients’ views were sought about their involvement in the planning of their treatment, whether they were treated with dignity and respect, how informed they were of their progress, and whether staff were helpful.
Caroline Honnor, from Knottingley, was referred to the service after breaking her ankle in three places.
She said: “It was a traumatic break; I have plates in both sides of my foot so I was very scared and worried about it. The care I received was fabulous, as was the support from the physiotherapists who understood my anxieties and had time to listen to any issues I had. I can’t praise them more highly.”
Clair Holdsworth, physiotherapy service lead, said: “We are delighted that the results of the survey show that we are delivering a high standard of care for our patients. The comments are highly motivating for all staff working in the service, and it shows that our patients are highly satisfied with the care and treatment they receive.”
Patients can receive physiotherapy care at the trust’s hospitals at Pontefract, Wakefield, Dewsbury and Castleford, GP surgeries and health centres.
