TALENTED pupils at Pontefract’s King’s School competed in an X Factor style showdown after creating, styling and pitching new music groups to a panel of “celebrity” judges.
Teams of year nine pupils were helped by business mentors to design posters, create business plans and promote their bands before pitching to a panel of three staff members in the E ‘enjoyment’ Factor contest.
Maher Rashid, the Mill Hill Lane school’s assistant head, said: “The pupils did incredibly well creating a whole music package around their bands.
“The idea of the celebrity masks and X Factor style judging was a fun way to teach them about the music industry’s business and proved very successful because a lot of our students watch the show.
“The response we’ve had from the day has been brilliant, the pupils really enjoyed breaking the mould of our usual timetable.”
Pupils took part in the event as part of an ‘enjoy and achieve’ day which takes place once a term to teach pupils about different industries.
