The 17-year-old from Wrenthorpe, won the public over with her version of Van Morrison’s Moondance.

She had to go through to the public vote after missing out on a ‘fast pass’ to the next round, which her mentor WILL.I.AM awarded to fellow Team Will contestant Jermain Johnson.

Earlier in the show, judges praised her performance. Kylie Minogue said: “You have a natural elegance, it was beautiful.”

WILL.I.AM said: “Every note you hit was perfect.”

Sir Tom Jones said: “She just made it her own. You’re a lot prettier than Van Morrison. You look marvellous, you look like a model.”

Finally, Kaiser Chiefs Ricky Wilson said: “I am looking forward to hearing you sing again in the semi finals. You are going to make the kind of record that I am going to buy.”

Yesterday, the Wakefield Express called for readers to get behind the Outwood Grange Academy student and cast votes for her.

Congratulatory messages are already flooding Twitter.
