Ricky “The Hitman” Hatton to visit village WMC

RICKY “The Hitman” Hatton will be talking the talk when he hits the city in May.

The former world light welterweight champion is coming to Crigglestone Working Men’s Club to discuss his meteoric rise from rank and file fights in low key leisure centres to the heights of the MGM Grand in Las Vegas.

The Pride of Hyde made the big time when he defeated IBF World Light Welterweight Champion Kostya Tszyu in 2005.

He later claimed the WBA belt and had high profile bouts the likes of Floyd “Pretty Boy” Mayweather Jr and Manny “Pac-Man” Pacquiao.

The retired boxer turned promoter is expected to speak for 75 minutes about his achievements in the ring.

Tony Dunn, who is co-promoting the event, said: “Ricky will tell the story from the start of his career right up until the finish and the bout with Manny Pacquiao.

“He is very good at the mic and is good at doing stand-up. There will also be a question and answer session afterwards.”
