Royal in name but not nature

THIS may come as a shock to the many readers who are listeners or indeed are serious collectors of world music, but I have this piece of information I am about to share with you from a very good and trusted source, which is a friend of mine who works on one of the many busy meat counters in Leeds Market.

Sadly, it has transpired that the chirpy, melodic, popchart group The Kings of Leon who have graced our TVs and radios for half a decade have no royal connections and have never presided over a country called Leon, regardless of what their name suggests.

For the many collectors of royal memorabilia like myself who have bought their merchandise and put it in the drawer as a keepsake with other royal bits and bobs, this does not come as good news – as I’m sure your many readers who have done the same as me will agree.
