Sex clinic to open in Trinity Walk

A new sexual health clinic will open in Trinity Walk shopping centre next week.

Trinity Walk Clinic, which will be run by Spectrum Community Health CIC, will be located to the rear of Asda Living and will bring together two sexual health teams from King Street and Margaret Street.

It will offer a range of services including sexual health advice, contraception, vaccinations and screening and treatment for Sexually Transmitted Infections.

Staff at the clinic, which opens on April 19, will also be able to offer advice about a positive pregnancy test, the menopause and other sexual health issues.

Spectrum’s chief executive Dr Linda Harris said: “Spectrum has a proud track record of providing quality, discreet and confidential services to members of the public.

“We welcome the strengthening of our services by opening this integrated clinic in the heart of Wakefield city centre.”

The Josephine Butler Centre sexual health services at King Street and the Margaret Street clinic will close following the move. But other medical services at the sites will continue.

Coun Pat Garbutt, cabinet member for adults and health at Wakefield Council, said: “I’m confident residents will join me in welcoming the opening of the new Spectrum community health clinic.

“It’s based in a great location which will make it easier for people to access a range of sexual health services, including testing, counselling and education.”

The clinic is open from 8am until 7pm Monday to Thursday, 8am until 5pm on Fridays and 9am until 12.30pm on Saturdays.
