SLIDESHOW: Heat on as cyclists raise thousands for hospice
Around 450 riders took on the event’s three routes on Sunday while families enjoyed the sun at a fun area set up in Pontefract Park.
Organisers expect the event to raise around £30,000 for the hospice, which costs £2.2m every year to keep open.

Hide AdTom Belt, marketing and communications officer, said: “Everyone did really well because it was very hot on Sunday but we had plenty of water to keep everyone going.
“At the moment, we’ve just passed the £20,000 mark but are looking on target to raise £30,000, which we’re really pleased with.”
It was the 20th annual cyclothon the Halfpenny Lane hospice has organised.
Forthcoming fundraising events include a garden party on Sunday, June 8, at the hospice and a starlight walk on Saturday, July 26, starting at Featherstone Rovers’ Big Fella’s Stadium at 8.30pm.
