SNOW UPDATE: Black ice causing problems in Wakefield and South Elmsall

Black ice and poor driving conditions are causing problems across the Wakefield district today (Thursday).

High Street in South Elmsall has been closed by police after several cars crashed because of the black ice this morning.

Arriva has said the 496 bus service will be diverting around High Street via Minsthorpe.

Traffic is queueing into Wakefield along Denby Dale Road and Wakefield Road at Scissett. Black ice is also causing hazardous driving conditions on Denby Dale Road between the M1 junction 39 roundabout at Durkar and the A635 Barnsley Road junction in Denby Dale.
