There were no soggy bottoms but plenty of star bakers after a Great British Bake Off -style competition raised cash for a leading heart charity.
Staff at the two British Heart Foundation stores in Pontefract raised a total of £194 at the bake off and coffee morning at the town’s St Giles’ Church last Friday.
The event was held as part of the charity’s national Wear Red Day campaign.
Wearing their finest shades of crimson, customers and staff provided baked goods and competed in the annual event.
Matthew Au, who works at the store, said the event ‘highlighted and spread awareness’ of the work carried out by the charity.
He added: “We’re really pleased, everyone came away from the day happy.”
Schoolchildren, local businesses and other fundraising groups across the Five Towns organised events for Wear Red Day.
